School Show Success
Our first school show in several years "Popstars the 90's Musical" took place last week and we are delighted by it's huge success. We had a small but supportive audience of around 50 on opening night but by closing night on Friday the word had spread and we had a packed hall of over 200!!! The young people were absolutely outstanding on stage and gave it their all. Our cast of 20 pupils from S1 - S6 formed a tight bond and their teamwork was evident on stage. Our backstage crew of young people and staff did a great job of piecing the show together behind the scenes and were involved in all areas such as moving set, lighting, make up, costume and hair. The cameo appearance of a group of staff living their dreams of becoming a Backstreet Boy and/or Spice Girl went down a storm with the pupils and Mr Wilson's legs were a talking point!
With Granite City Events providing the sound and an experienced live 8 piece band accompanying the young people, our show had a professional feel which was commented on by many of those who saw it. It was great to see the St Machar Academy community come together and we would like to thank everyone who was involved throughout the process. The months since we secured the rights for the show in June have been a whirlwind journey of rehearsals, problem solving and teamwork but last week proved how worthwhile it all seeing the sheer joy and confidence our young people got out of it, and it has been a privilege to be part of something they will remember for the rest of their lives.
