End of Term - Happy Holidays!

Yesterday was our 2018 End Of Term Awards Ceremony and as usual we were delighted to see so many of our young people gaining awards in Music and the Performing Arts. Our young musicians were outstanding as always and gave some stand out performances. Mahir Rahman welcomed everyone in with some lovely relaxing piano music. A selection of young people from our wind band then performed the first item "Feel It Still". There were pupil representatives from each of our band classes performing together with Mr Crossan stepping in for our bass guitar player Connor Jamieson (who is currently on a fantastic work experience placement at Blairdrummond Safari Park) and Mr Bell joining in on clarinet.

We than had an outstanding vocal solo from Poppy Wishart who left a lump in everyone's throat and shivers down our spines with her rendition of "Stone Cold". Our winner of the Music Prize Nicole Muir then performed a drum solo which she recently played for her Higher Music exam. We rounded off the ceremony with our newly formed "St Machar Voices" who sang a medley from "The Greatest Showman" arranged by Miss McPherson. This was thoroughly enjoyed by our audience with them all clapping along, and the young people singing gave it their all!.

Once again thank you to everyone who performed and well done to ALL of the young people who have been through our fantastic department this year. We are looking forward to seeing some excellent exam results from our Senior Phase young people, and have seen hundreds of our BGE pupils achieving Bronze, Silver and Gold Performing Awards this year with our hugely successful new course. We are so proud of the achievements you have all made, both personally and musically and we wish you all a fantastic and well deserved holiday!
