End of Term Two
This has been a very busy term for our Music Department, but an exciting and enjoyable one where our young people were given several opportunities to shine and indeed they did! We took part in the Evening Express Carol Concert for the second year which was a great experience for our wind band. Our Senior Phase young people then undertook their performance prelims with the majority working hard to gain impressive results.
On Wednesday 13th we held our own Christmas Concert in the school hall and for the first time we had 5 of our associated primary schools coming along to join us on the stage with their own acts. This concert was a fantastic showcase of the musical talents of our young people, and performances ranged from choirs and vocal solos to samba band, wind band and our new soul band. The hall was packed with an enthusiastic audience who really helped to support our young people.
Wind Band then performed at our annual Christmas Service in St Machar Cathedral which is a wonderful venue to play in. We also had a vocal solo by Caitlin Flinn which sounded beautiful. Our final performances took place at our End of Term Variety Show which was in front of the whole school on the last afternoon of term. Performances ranged from vocal solos, a drum and bass duet and a karate demo, to our newest staff groups: Choir and Fleetwood Machar, St Machar's very own staff rock band. This was a brilliant cheerful event which sent our young people out on a high.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and we look forward to seeing the opportunities and success which 2018 will bring.
