End of First Term
We have had an exciting and busy start to the new school year this term with lots of success and achievement from our young people. The Music Department has continued to be a popular place at lunch times, where our practice rooms and various music extra curricular groups are full of young people having fun learning instruments and singing. We have been delighted to welcome a couple of P7 pupils into our wind band, which runs on a Wednesday after school and has a dedicated group of young people who regularly attend.
The feedback in our classes has been very positive so far about our Music courses. Our new Performing Progress Diaries are working extremely well to motivate our young people, with many of them achieving awards on various instruments as you can see from our BGE Hall of Fame page here. Our Higher Music class participated in a class concert where the young people performed one of their pieces in front of their class and this was a positive experience for all involved.
We took part in the Aberdeen CYPS Awards by performing at the Beach Ballroom and several of our young people performed for the P6/7 open evening. Lots of our young people in S1 and S2 tried out for our wind band programme and there was lots of enthusiasm for it. The final list is now being compiled and we hope to get this started next term.
We would like to wish you all a very happy holiday and look forward to seeing everyone back soon for another term of musical fun. Christmas is coming so look out for details to follow about our annual Christmas concert and various other performance opportunities.
